People questioning their Orthodox lifestyle, often need support.
Help in exploring life's many choices
At some stage of their lives, people growing up or living in Orthodox communities may question their lifestyle, practices or beliefs. Some may consider adopting a lifestyle and values different to those of their family or community.
This can be a challenging process, and sometimes the journey can be lonely or risky.
The information, resources, advice and support needed to deal with these processes and changes are not always available from immediate family and community.
In the USA organisations such as 'Footsteps' in NY, have been successful in aiding many people.
Melbourne is a smaller community with many fine support services in the Jewish community, and Pathways aims to augment those services with support and networking assistance.
Pathways is a small group of caring volunteers (some previously Orthodox) who wish to support Jewish people making changes to their lives.
Pathways does not aim to sway anyone away from orthodoxy or religious affiliation. Nor is Pathways affiliated with any religious institutions.
Our services include regular support groups and networking assistance for individuals.
We are simply here for a chat, an understanding ear, some advice,
tips on education, health, counselling, legal, housing, social and employment matters.
We can direct you to community groups and government agencies. We can listen and try to help.
And most importantly, we are here to connect like-minded Jewish people who may be going through similar journeys.
