This week we're excited to be a part a global movement of positive change!

On 27 October, we're celebrating the International Day of Choice (Yom Ha’Bechira) — together with our sister organisations in the US, UK, Europe and Israel.

This annual event raises awareness about the brave individuals (we call them 'Pathfinders') from insular Jewish communities who have questioned their lifestyle, practices or beliefs, and decided to make some difficult changes. Many have faced significant personal, family and financial obstacles whilst navigating their path towards a self-determined life.

On this day we honour their right to choose they way they want to live, along with the 10,000's of others across the world just like them.

The past 12 months have been especially busy for Pathways, as a growing number of Pathfinders have looked to us to provide a safety net. I am truly proud of the Pathfinders we have walked alongside over the last 8 years. We have been contacted by many individuals desperate for support who are struggling with family, health, spiritual and practical life challenges. And we've also seen so many thrive when they are connected to our inclusive community of Pathfinders — many who have experienced similar journeys.

With your generous support, we have been able to provide Pathfinders with bespoke services and programs that offer:

  • A safe and non-judgemental space to ask questions

  • Individual mentoring program

  • Social and Jewish cultural events

  • A strong peer support network

  • Personal storytelling programs

  • Advice about accessing education, employment & more

  • Community education and advocacy

  • Referrals to professional services (medical, food support, housing & more)

This week our Pathfinders will be gathering for a communal Day of Choice Picnic, and to discuss what living an authentic and meaningful life means to them personally.

I wish you a Happy International Day of Choice.

Thank you again for your support and for championing those in need within our community.

Warm wishes,
