Family Programs
Strengthening families through understanding & support
Introducing MISHPACHAH (Family)
MISHPACHAH is a cornerstone of Pathways' new Youth & Family Programs, created to support religious parents navigating the complex journey of raising teenagers who are questioning the values and lifestyle they’ve grown up with. For many families, differing religious perspectives between parents and teens can lead to painful conflicts of faith, family and community expectations. Our programs provide religious parents, with education, skills, and peer groups to help families support children who are questioning.
MISHPACHAH is here to help with two culturally sensitive and informed programs that offer practical, positive parenting tools and a supportive peer community — empowering parents to foster stronger relationships, greater understanding, and mutual respect within the home. No other program in the community addresses these unique parenting challenges.
MISHPACHAH Parenting Skills Workshops
For this program, Pathways has partnered with Chazak — a grassroots organisation founded during the pandemic by religious Jewish mothers with lived experience navigating complex family and faith dynamics.
Our Parenting Skills Workshops offer a thoughtfully designed 6-week parenting program, led by two highly experienced family therapists. This small and confidential peer group setting allows parents to explore challenges, share experiences, and build useful skills.
Through engaging weekly workshops, parents will gain practical tools and meaningful insights to strengthen their relationships with both their children and spouses — fostering better communication, and improved connections between family members. The program tackles difficult topics such as shame, stigma, grief and the tensions that can arise between parents. Jewish texts are explored alongside contemporary research.
MISHPACHAH PATH4LIFE | Mentor Program
(strictly confidential)
You are not alone on your parenting journey. The MISHPACHAH PATH4LIFE | Mentor Program offers individualised, compassionate support for Jewish parents whose children are questioning religiosity. Pathways will thoughtfully match you with a trained and empathetic Mentor — equipped to listen without judgment and offer guidance that respects your values and specific situation.
This service is completely private and tailored to your unique needs, providing a safe space to be heard, supported, and empowered.
The program provides parents with someone who understands the weight they carry and support so they don't feel alone — freeing them to focus on what matters most - loving their child.
